From NMB: This poemobject is a collaboration between Space Dust Editions and New Material Books. Kate Greene’s EXCERPTS FROM THE MARSEILLE JOURNAL have been printed by Space Dust Editions on a scroll of receipt paper in minuscule, post-legible type. It is housed in an AMAC Plastic 530C box, part of the iconic M Series featured in MoMA’s permanent collection.
EXCERPTS FROM THE MARSEILLE JOURNAL was written in New York and France, late summer and autumn of 2023. Unwinding in one long downward movement, this scroll acts out the linearity of time. It rolls up like a capsule for storage in its box: memory as receipt.
The AMAC box protects the scroll from dust and allows it to be displayed on your bookshelf, desk, or wherever you keep your collector’s items.
This Space Dust Editions / New Material Books collaboration began when Space Dust acquired a thermal receipt printer, which can print pdfs of arbitrary length. NMB landed on AMAC boxes as the perfect way to store and view these unique, material forms of poetic text. Starting with PARADISE LOST Book 1 and EXCERPTS FROM THE MARSEILLE JOURNAL, we hope to publish more poemobjects in this manner.
Please note: the poem is printed in such small font that it cannot and is not meant to be read in its entirety.
