From NMB: This poemobject is a collaboration between Space Dust Editions and New Material Books. The entirety of PARADISE LOST Book One has been printed by Space Dust Editions on a scroll of receipt paper in minuscule, post-legible type. It is housed in an AMAC Plastic 530C box, part of the iconic M Series featured in MoMA’s permanent collection.

Typically, Milton’s long stretches of blank verse are chopped into separate pages. Here, the receipt scroll allows you to view what previously existed only in the mind—one sinewy column of poetry unfurling through space: “Sing Heav’nly Muse.”

The AMAC box protects the scroll from dust and allows it to be displayed on your bookshelf, desk, or wherever you keep your collector’s items.

This Space Dust Editions / New Material Books collaboration began when Space Dust acquired a thermal receipt printer, which can print pdfs of arbitrary length. NMB landed on AMAC boxes as the perfect way to store and view these unique, material forms of poetic text. Starting with PARADISE LOST Book One and EXCERPTS FROM THE MARSEILLE JOURNALwe hope to publish more poemobjects in this manner.

Please note: the poem is printed in such small font that it cannot and is not meant to be read in its entirety.
