From the press: Roe Ethridge operates from the fine line between the generic and the personal. For this fourth edition of the Note Note Collection, Ethridge chose the shell, inviting us to embark on a journey with him, beyond the clichés of popular culture and art history, to evoke memories of his childhood by the Atlantic Ocean. Through this motif, Ethridge takes us to the heart of his tongue-in-cheek style, which constantly plays with the boundaries between commercial commission and artistic practice, between the intimate and the collective, between a vision anchored in reality or fantasised. Genres like the still life or portrait are merged with the pervasive image culture of the present.
